Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS)
As part of the terms of an annual planning grant, Region VII Planning & Development Council is required
to produce a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) which also includes the Regional
Development Program (RDP). The information for the CEDS is a compliation of input from individuals
in the communities within our region, from our council members, as well as information from projects
within the region.

RFD7 and White Paper
In 2005 Region VII Planning and Development Council undertook an ambitious project,
called RFD7, to bring together a diverse cross section of community stakeholders in
Barbour, Braxton, Gilmer, Lewis, Randolph, Tucker, and Upshur Counties to begin
dialogue on the Regions future. 4 meetings were conducted and participation was excellent
not only from the local level, but state and national as well. The Capstone of the process
was a published "White Paper" which documents the process, participation and the outcome
of the project.

The Rural Future Destination Project (RFD-7)
"Youth Summit I, II,III"
(Addendum to the "White Paper")
One of the outcomes from RFD7 was the apparent need for more Youth Involvement within
Regional Councils. As a result of that need, Region VII sponsored several Youth Summits.
The report that followed these events is published as an Addendum to the "White Paper."
