| 1st Annual WV Go Green Convention a Huge Success! |
*****UPDATE***** The West Virginia Wesleyan SIFE Team announced recently that they won the regional SIFE competition held in Charlotte, NC and will be traveling to Philadelphia, PA in May for the national competition. Their success was due, in part, to the success of the First WV Go Green Convention.
On May 11-12, 2009, at the national competition in Philadelphia, PA, the WVWC SIFE Team was named runner-up in their division. To achieve this honor, they were in the top 30 over 900 teams! Many of the competing teams had SIFE Team budgets of $100,000 or more from very large universities.
CONGRATULATIONS WVWC SIFE Team! And we can't wait to see what happens next year!

With financial support from the Appalachian Regional Commission, as well as businesses such as Wal Mart, Pratt & Whitney, Mt. State Expo Services, WBOY TV, and Region VII Planning & Development Council, the West Virginia Wesleyan College SIFE Team hosted the first annual WV Go Green Convention. Displays ranged from environmentally-friendly diaper services to solar towers and other alternative energy sources. Additionally, students from several local schools as well as the general public had the opportunity to attend special workshops and the round table discussions. The event achieved success beyond expectations and plans are already "in the works" to expand next year's convention.
