On August 19, 2011, the Region VII Planning and Development Council hosted a conference at the Canaan Valley Institute. The conference was sponsored by the Applachian Regional Commission FLEX E Grant Program as well as Region VII. The main topics of discussion included; Marcellus Shale Drilling, the Completion of Corridor H, Workforce Training for Workforce Needs, and Extractable Industries.
